Novec™1230
Novec™ 1230 is a colourless, odourless and environmentally friendly product that is suitable for the protection of most enclosed areas, and is approved for use in normally occupied areas, where personnel safety is priority.
Novec™ 1230 is a liquid known as a 'fluorinated ketone' with nitrogen as the propellant gas. It has minimal toxicity. The systems are stored as a liquid at room temperature, reducing the number of cylinders required compared inert gas or CO2 systems. The Novec™ 1230 agent is released through a piping network into the protected enclosed area to extinguish the fire as safely and efficiently as possible.
Novec™ 1230 is rapidly released into the protected area and extinguishes a fire by heat absorption and chemical reaction at the flame front. It is non-conductive and non-corrosive.
An important aspect of Novec™ 1230 is its duty of care for the environment as it has no Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP). Novec™ 1230 has no impact upon climate change. The lifetime of Novec 1230 fluid in the atmosphere is estimated to be in the range of 3-5 days, with a global warming potential of just 1.
