Ansul Interlock/Shutdown Upgrades

Is Your Ansul System Compliant? Understanding the Ansul Interlock Requirements

In 2025, Johnson Controls updated their specifications to require interlock functionality on their Ansul Kitchen Fire Suppression systems.

This means that when an Ansul system activates during a fire, it must now automatically: shut down the fuel supply to cooking appliances, isolate electrical cooking equipment, stop the ventilation canopy air supply, and allow extraction systems to continue operating where applicable.

These changes are now required to comply with:

  • UL300
  • LPS 1223
  • BS EN 16282-7 standards

What’s Included in the Installation?

Global Fire & Security can install and integrate a dedicated Ansul 500S isolation controller with your existing kitchen suppression system.

Typical works may include:

  • Installation of an Ansul control unit
  • Gas shut-off integration
  • Electrical isolation for protected appliances
  • Ventilation fan interlocking
  • Testing and commissioning
  • System verification

Installations are typically completed within 4–8 hours depending on the existing systems and site layout.
